Sustainable fabric Clothing for a Sustainable Future

We live in a world where being environmentally responsible matters. And everyone these days is trying to be conscious of their impact on their environment, and to use sustainable products, albeit with varying results. We try to find sustainable food, sustainable energy sources, and even sustainable fabric clothing. While sustainable clothing may be a little more expensive than other fabrics, it is nice to know that we are doing our part in saving the environment.

Sustainable clothing comes from fabrics and materials which are derived from eco-friendly resources, and may also be used to describe the processes used to generate these fabrics. A long time ago, environmental consciousness towards clothing was manifested in buying clothes from thrift shops or second hand shops, or donating the same. Therefore, the concept of sustainable fabric clothing had not really come into being.

Everyone knows what happened next, as environmental consciousness exploded worldwide. Being green is the order of the day, and being sustainable is an absolute must. The green people of the world try to implement sustainable practices in even the smallest parts of their lives, in order to do their bit. Such habits, for example, include reducing your carbon footprint and making efforts for saving water and electricity. And, finally, it includes wearing clothes that you know have not harmed the environment: sustainable clothing. Such clothing follows the three R’s of the environment: it helps to reduce, reuse and recycle. It also follows the laws of sustainability in terms of economics, ecology and social equity.

Today, sustainable fabric clothing concentrates on reducing the amount of fabric which is sent to landfills, and also reducing the amount of agro-chemicals used in apparel production in order to minimize environmental impact. So buy your first piece of sustainable clothing today, and know that you are doing your part in protecting your future.
